Judges 4 -Swift obedience

Judges 4 Swift Obedience and Victory is yours!

Deborah is judge and God has asked her to ask Barak to lead the army against Jabin's army. One thing I found really interesting is that Barak was slow to agree to God's call. He actually negotiated with Deborah by saying, Okay I’ll go if you go with me. We don’t know exactly why he did this but from my personal experience I could venture to guess that He obviously knew she had favor in the sight of the God. The fact is though he was hesitant to do it alone.
I personally have done this very same thing. To know the Lord is calling me to do something and yet I lack confidence in myself to do the task God is calling me to do. I have seen in my own life how Father has raised someone else up to lead in the task.
Ever had that happened? When you were asked to do something and you felt you should but then chickened out because you didn’t know how or you were just fearful? I Have! I’ve actually had a similar conversation with God that went something like this, “ Oh lord, I would love to do that but I just can’t, I don’t have the experience, I don’t think anyone will come. But then a week, a month later, someone emerges and guess what they said, YES LORD! I knew immediately that God had to bring along someone else into the picture because I was just taking too long to move.

God made it clear to Barak that the victory would not be in his hands but in the hands of a woman. I too know that feeling too. When I knew I was the one to do the task but I failed to have the confidence or obedience or faith to step out and trust that God would provide me with everything I needed to accomplish the task. I know full well how it feels to stand there and know that victory wasn’t mine but someone else’s.

Ladies,
Let us learn from even those who have gone before us. Barak was a great warrior, a man with great strength. A man who probably didn’t fear men or war. He was chosen by God to head up the men who would fight against Sisera and Jabin’s army. God said to Barak , “I will give you victory over him”. How much more confidence can one have to know that God would be there to give him victory.
It is a choice to obey, it is the choice to follow after the things of God, it is having faith in God and trusting Him to do as He says.

I so often lack faith when I’m stepping out into new things and in areas I personally don’t have any confidence or experience in or with. How about you? Have you had this experience? If so, let’s pray and ask the Lord to give us opportunities to be obedient. To not hesitate, to not ask someone else to join in with us, to be obedient when we first hear His voice! Confidence that our Heavenly Father is walking with us into whatever He is leading us to do.

Lord, I come before you and I pray lifting up our desire to walk in obedience. Lord I pray that this week we would be reminded of Barak’s hesitation to trust you at your word. Lord, I pray that we will trust that You can use us even when we feel inadequate or inexperienced. Oh Lord how much more then do we need to trust in Your adequacy and experience!
Lord, have your way in our lives, may we all walk in Truth and love and obedience to your Will!

I pray this in Your name ,
The Name of Jesus
Amen………
