Judges 2:1-10 What is your Song?

Judges 2 Just Obey!

I had to take yesterday to really read and pray about chapter 2. At first I had no application for me. I went to bed a bit early to have some time to read and pray it was there that the Lord opened my eyes and showed me several things that I’ll share with you today.

First let me retail the story as precisely as possible.
The angel of the Lord came and spoke to Joshua. Then Joshua shared what he said with the people of Israel. He said, “ I brought you up out of Egypt and led you into the land which I have sworn to your fathers; and I said, ‘ I will never break My covenant with you.”
The people were to make no covenant with the inhabitants of the land, they were to tear down their altars. Plain and simple! BUT they disobeyed.
The angel of the Lord then said,”I will not drive them out before you, but they shall become as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare to you”.
When the people heard this they wept.
Joshua dies and there was a generation that grew up that did not know the Lord or the work that He did for the Israel.

Let’s just stop there for one moment. I found that to be very interesting. How does a generation grow up and not know the God of Israel?
Go to Deut. 31-32 This is a song that God gave Moses to teach the people of Israel so that? They would not forget the Lord their God and His ways. Joshua is introduced to the people and now the baton is passed.

Ladies, How important is it for us to share all that the Lord has done for us? This passage isn’t just a beautiful song. It had/has history and promise for then Israel and now for us. So, then this week I want to ask you to stop and write out your song of ……….., for me I’ll write The Song of Melissa Hughes
What a legacy to share with my children, their children.
Do you know what happened in Judges 2:10 a whole generation grew up not knowing God. Why? Because the fathers did not do as their God said and that was to teach Deut. 32 “the song of Israel” to the people so that they would not forget!

Lord, may we not forget to share our song of what you've done in and through our lives. May we sing a song that leads people to you!
it is in your name I pray
the precious name of Jesus
amen..............
