2 Corinthians 10 : 1-4

2 Corinthians 10:1-4
"Now I, Paul, myself urge you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ
I who am meek when face to face with you,
but bold toward you when absent!
I ask that when I am present I may not be bold
with the confidence with which I propose to be courageous against some,
who regard us as if we walked according to the flesh,
for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh,
but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses."
Paul is writing about himself but something that he says should catch all our attention. He says,
" I, Paul, myself urge you by the Meekness and Gentleness of Christ"
This caused me to stop and think- how Paul knew Christ personally and was now referring to Christ's character and how the Corinthians should be imitating that kind of character or that they should be developing that kind of character in themselves.
I did some scripture referencing to see if there were other places where Paul might have used this or where Christ himself might have said, " be as I am, meek and gentle". What I found was this,
Matt. 11:29 " Take my yolk upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and You shall find rest for your souls."
This is where I find myself being challenged for today. That we would lay down my yolk and take up, the Yolk of Christ, that we would learn from His life and character, That we would especially take on the character traits of gentle and humble in heart!
Lord, help us to this day put on Your character and be more like you today. I pray that we would have gentleness and meekness. Lord, help us to live this out today and everyday, being changed to be more like you! I pray that You would give us opportunities to share our faith and hope that we have in You.
I ask this in Your name , Lord Jesus,
Amen!
