2 Corinthians 9:10-15
“Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food,
will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness;
you will be enriched in everything for all liberality,
which through us is producing thanksgiving to God.
For the ministry of this services is not only fully supplying the needs of the saints,
but is also overflowing through many thanksgivings to God.
Because of the proof given by this ministry they will glorify God for your obedience to your confession of the gospel of Christ,
and for the liberality of your contribution to them and to all.
While they also,
by prayer on your behalf,
yearn for you because of the surpassing grace of God in you.
Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.”
I love the way this chapter ends. Not only does it close wonderfully but it has such promise for us all. God our Father through His son, Jesus, will provide the seed and from the seed it will accomplish all that it was meant to accomplish by providing the harvest.
Ladies, today as we finish up Chapter 9 (and it has taken some time for me to get through this chapter) I do pray that you have been refreshed by the word of our Lord. I know that I have and that I have been challenged again, to take every day as a new start. Remembering that today, has for it a purpose that yesterday did not. Yes, the purpose for everyday is similar and it is that we would be conformed not to this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. But how cool is it that we can start fresh every day with a new beginning to work towards that completion!
There were several things in these verses that really spoke to me.
1. verse 10 closes with , “ and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness;”
this truly hit me as wow, it isn’t that I’ll produce much fruit as in “winning souls”, but it is the fruit of righteousness. Or Living right with God!
2. verse 13 says “ Because of the proof given by this ministry they will glorify God for your obedience to your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for the liberality of your contribution to them and to all.”
I found this to be a TRUST WORTHY statement! How many times have I truly experienced this word to the fullest extent! When church members in the states have sent teams out to minister to us and to the people we reach it has been the fulfillment of this word! Or when we have had an unspoken need and the Lord has moved someone in the states to answer it. When the answer comes it is so TRUE that we do Glorify God and are Very Thankful for the obedience of the one who has done as the Lord has asked.
How much more do I or You need to walk in obedience to the things we are being asked to do in the Lord. I know for myself “I” get in the way and sometimes I find reasons for not doing things that I know the Lord has asked me to do. But these past few weeks I’ve seen some amazing things. I love to see how my Obedience is used to further His Kingdom. I love that He has asked me to be involved and to be apart of the ministry to the saints and to the lostness of the world.
3. verses 15: Paul finishes with “ Thanks be to God for this indescribable gift!”
This is my greeting, and my closing from now on! How blessed those of us are that are Followers of Christ, who have believed in Jesus Christ, Trusted him to take away our sins, Change us from within , and transform us to be Like Him! We are His children, We are His workmanship! WE have been given the greatest Gift of all !~
As we enter another week. I do pray that you will be renewed in your obedience to Christ. I pray that you will not allow the daily events to overcrowd you or cause you to not have the strength to do what He is calling you to do! I pray that you will live a life of ministry to the saints and to those who are seeking for Truth.
Lord, walk with us today, give us your plan for the day! May we just be reminded of all the things you have taught us in the week past and may we just be overjoyed with the harvest you have provided for us. It is in Your name I pray, the Name of Jesus!
Amen
Thanks be to God for this indescribable gift!
