Judges 14:1-4 God is at work.....

“One day when Samson was in Timnah, he noticed a certain Philistine woman. When he returned home, he told his father and mother, ‘I want to marry a young Philistine woman I saw in Timnah.”
His father and mother objected strenuously, “Isn’t there one woman in our tribe our among all the Israelites you could marry? Why must you go to the pagan Philistines to find a wife?” But Samson told his Father, “Get her for me. She is the one I want.” His father and mother didn’t realize the Lord was at work in this, creating an opportunity to disrupt the Philistines, who ruled over Israel at that time.”
Judges 14:1-4

I have really enjoyed the study in Judges. It is taking me much longer because of other studies I’m doing but none the less each week as I work through Judges it has a fitting word for me. I hope does for you as well.

Today, we are getting to see the life of Samson begin to take on real meaning. For those of us who have kids we can probably identify with Samson’s parents and their expectations for their son. They knew he was brought into the world for a purpose and they wanted to guide their son in making decisions that would grow him both physically and spiritually so that he would be ready to be used by God to fulfill his purpose.

As I read this chapter I realized this chapter has many things that the Holy Spirit had for me personally so I have to break this down.

Today, the word for me and maybe for you too, is that God is at work in every situation and that I /we need to be truly walking close to our Father in Heaven to know when to stop and when to press forward.

Samson was being drawn to this Philistine woman and wanted her. He had to have known what this could mean to his family and all of Israel. However, he knew what he wanted and he told his father to make it happen. His parents were concerned as well. They knew the situation at the time and they tried to help their son understand that he really needed to pick a wife from the tribe of Israel. The thing that I love about this is that his parents didn’t know that God was at work in this event.

? Have you ever had a situation you were in and when it was all said and done you looked back and realized, God had been at work in that situation and you were being used to fulfill a special purpose?

Ladies, as we go about the day, let us not jump to the conclusion that we as parents know what is best. Or for you who are single. Don’t get so focused on what you think is the best plan that you forget that Jesus may be at work in the situation.

Lord, as we walk through the day today, let us be aware of every situation and realize that You are at work. Let us be sensitive to Your Spirit so much so that we are seeking You in every situation.
Thank you Lord for how you use us and how you orchestrate things to fulfill Your Will! May we not hinder what it is You are doing in any given situation. Lord we love you and desire to work with You where You are already at work!
It is in Your Son’s name I pray,
The Name of Jesus,
Amen………….
