Samson was given a gift of strength but it wasn’t just his hair it was by the spirit of God that gave him the power to overcome so many Philistines.
Judges 14:6 and 14 say: “Then the spirit of the Lord took control of him”.
Each event had a purpose and with each event that took place it was drawing Samson to the final work that God had intended for Him.
As I reflected back on my memory from when I was a child I don’t ever recall anyone telling me that the Spirit of God came upon Samson. I always understood that his power/strength came from his long hair. However the key was that the Spirit of the Lord took control of Samson. At one point it is clear that Samson needs to retreat so he leave to go to a cave.
Ever just grow weary in the midst of the work you are being called to? We don’t know exactly what Samson felt or what he was thinking but it is clear that he felt the need to go to a cave away from everyone. Maybe it was just to cool off from his rage and anger? But maybe it was because he was himself, weary of this strength that came upon him every time the Spirit of the Lord came upon him. At any rate the life of Samson is a wonderful example for us all to realize that we all have purpose. For Samson it was to bring the Philistines down.
I have been challenged to think about my life thus far and just take a moment to thank the Lord for His work in my life. I may not have the same experience that Samson had but one thing we both have in common is that when I was born I was born with Purpose as were you!
So, start this week with the Joy of knowing you have a purpose to fulfill and dear sisters I pray that you walk with confidence and assurance that Father is working that purpose to completion.
Lord, I pray that today you would just speak to us and lead us where it is You are already at work. May we join you and fulfill our purpose!
It is in Your Name I pray
The Name of Jesus
Amen……………
