1 John 5:1-4 & 13-21

It has been such an amazing journey as I've read through 1 John.

As we finish 1 John I want to recap some of what the Lord taught me. I also would love to hear how you have been grown and how this Book has challenged you as a Believer. I probably won’t get through all of 1 John 5 today but we will finish it tomorrow for sure.

So let us dig in!
1 John 5: 1-5 and 13-21

NLT: " Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves his children, too. We know we love God's Children, if we love God and obey his commandments. Loving God means keeping his commandments, and really, that isn't difficult. For every child of God defeats this evil world by trusting Christ to give the victory. and the ones who win the battle against the world are the ones who believe that Jesus is the Son of God. "

1 John 5:1-5

To LOVE God is to OBEY His commandments.

These two things really struck me , LOVE and OBEY, because this is the area that John just keeps coming back to over and over again. How we as believers ought to love one another just as Christ loved us. How if we are a God’s children then we ought to love all of His Children. For us to Obey the Lord.

In the past there were people that I would say, I didn’t care for or I’ve even said, I probably wouldn’t be their friends if it weren’t for this situation or that situation. It was when I did a study on the Fruit of the Spirit that the Lord taught me I was not living out the most important fruit of the spirit, which is Love. And that in my choosing not to LOVE all of God's children I was not an obedient child of the King either.

Love as in 1 Corinthians 13 clearly makes the point that love sees no boundaries.

So, What I realized in the start of 1 John 5 is that John wants to press the point yet again to say, if you say you believe in Christ who is the Son of God, then you are His children, and if you are His Children than you will love all His children.

Ladies,
John 13:34-35 “ A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another , even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
1 John 3:14 and 1 John 4:20-

Love is not an easy thing to do when we are walking in the Flesh~

But Love is possible if you are walking in the Spirit.

1 John 5:3-5 “ For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and his commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world- OUR FAITH. And who is the one who Overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”

I pray that today you will make it a way of life to truly Love all of GOD’s Children and to Obey the commandments of the Lord our God.

May the Lord teach you His Love in ways you have not known. May you grow deeper in Love with your Lord and Savior. And May He use you to reach those who are lost around you, through your love for one another and from your obedience to His commandments may you set the example for others to follow!

Lord, thank you again for another day of Service to you! Thank you Lord for allowing us as your children to serve in small and big ways. Thank you for the Joy of our Salvation and the Hope of your Return!
Lord I pray that we would all desire to love as you love! Help us to grow in You and as we do may we touch the ends of the earth with your love and hope.

I pray this in your Name, the Name of Jesus
Amen
