1 John 1:6

1 John 1:6

“If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth;”

- Fellowship with Him?
- Walk in the Darkness?
- We lie?
- Practice the truth?

These are the questions we need to answer today!

Let us go to 1 John and read verse 1-6 again! Remember, the message that John is bringing was; so that “our joy may be made complete”.
Telos! COMPLETE! Not lacking! Finished!

Verse 5: God is light: and Fellowship were the key elements. James 1:17 was our verse for yesterday so that we might be mindful of who God is and how He has given us every good thing, every perfect gift- that in Him there is no variation or shifting shadow.

“Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above; coming down from the Father of Lights, from whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.” James 1:17

Lord as we begin to read verse 6 may we truly see the TRUTH as You first shared it to John. May we be convicted of any sin that is in our lives, may we not desire to walk in darkness but walk in Your light. May I Lord desire You above all things and all desires. Lord, change me, mold me, make me into a worthy vessel that can truly be used to Your Glory!
Amen~

1 John 1:6 “ If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth;”

Here are those questions we spoke about in the beginning:
Fellowship with Him?
Walk in Darkness?
We lie?
Practice the Truth?

Fellowship with Him?
This is talking about having a relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ.
In John 8:12 “ Again therefore Jesus spoke to them, saying, “ I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life.” Also in 1 Corinthians 1:9 it says: “ God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” Now for those of us who have prayed and asked Jesus into our hearts to be Lord of our lives and have confessed Him to be the Son of God, and have asked him to forgive us from all our sin. We know these passages as Promises of that fellowship! We are in fellowship with God through His Son Jesus Christ.

However, if this is the first time you have ever heard about being in Fellowship with God through His son, Jesus Christ. Let me just take a moment to share with you some other passages that might help you understand that God sent a gift for you and I , in His Son, Jesus Christ.
( John 3:16) "for God so loved the World that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have eternal life." It was through this gift that Eternal life would be offered.
(Romans 6:23) says, “ for the wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
We are condemned to death because of our SIN each and every one of us. Death is coming and it is promised. We have to first though recognize our position and understand who we are without God and His Son Jesus. We are Sinners!
We on our own are inherently bad. (Romans 3:23) “For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.”
So, we have to recognize that we are sinners and have fallen short of God’s Glory. We are truly separated from God and His Son. But, God loved us so much that He sent us His Son, Christ Jesus. So that we might not be separated from Him but that we may live with Him , be in Fellowship with Him.
(Romans 10:9-10) “ That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the Dead, you shall be saved; For with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”
You can “KNOW” God through His Son, Jesus! You can receive the Gift of Life, eternal, by making a decision to do just as: Romans 10: 9 and 10 says. Just stop right now and ask yourself these questions:

Do I want to a life that has meaning and purpose? I think deep with in us, we all desire to be of some value and to have had a purpose for living. We all want to live and make a difference. You have a purpose, you have value, you have the chance to make the difference. If you said, yes to these questions: Just take a moment and pray to God, asking Him to make Himself known to you! Pray and confess to Him that You do believe He sent his Son to die on the cross for your sin. Pray and confess that You know you are a sinner that you have sinned and have done wrong. Pray and ask Him to forgive you; Take time to really think about all that you have done, just confess to Him that you need Him to come into your life and change you. Pray and tell Him that you desire for Him to be Lord of your life. Tell Him you believe that He raised His Son, Jesus from the Dead and that you do believe that He is Alive!- Pray this and believe! Now don't think just because you prayed you are saved! You must truly believe in your heart that you are saved! Once you believe, once you confess, once you call on the name of Jesus you are saved! Praying isn't the key element, knowing the right words or saying just the right thing doesn't save you! It is the heart that God sees! It is your intentions that God sees! I do pray that if you desire to know and have a relationship with God, through His son, Jesus, that you will seek out someone to share more about what that means.

Ladies, there are many who have just prayed and have believed for the first time: Let us just stop and pray for these where ever they are.

Lord, I thank you for the Fellowship we can have with You through Your Son, Jesus Christ. I thank you Lord, for making it possible for me and so many others to become adopted into your Family! Thank you for the gift of Life!
Lord, may we celebrate today : the Fellowship we have in You through Your Son, Jesus Christ!
It is in Your Name we pray, the Name of Jesus! Lord we also ask that You make yourself known to those who are seeking you. We pray for those who have believed on you for the first time. I pray for them to be rooted in your Word to grow in their Faith and walk with you. Thank you Lord for the precious gift of your Son!

Amen.
