2 Corinthians 9:9

2 Corinthians 9:9

“As it is written, He scattered abroad, he gave to the poor, His Righteousness abides forever.”

The passage that was cross reference to this verse was:
Ps. 112:9
I really felt though that verses 1-9 were very good and really gave 2 Corinthians 9:9 meaning, or should I say a more complete understanding of what was implied.

“How blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
Who greatly delights in His commands.
Light arises in the darkness for the upright,
He is gracious and compassionate and righteous.
It is well with a man who is gracious and lends;
He will maintain his cause in judgment.
For he will never be shaken;
The righteous will be remembered forever.
He will not fear evil tidings,
His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
His heart is upheld, he will not fear,
until he looks with satisfaction on his adversaries.
He has given freely to the poor;
His righteousness endures forever,
His horn will be exalted in honor.”

When I read Ps 112 the first thing I did was break it down and see what message was in this text. Here is what I saw:

1. The man who fears the Lord : is blessed and greatly delights in the Lord commands
2. Because of his obedience and fear of the Lord ; the light of Jesus arises in the darkness for him
3. As a result of obedience and fear of the Lord; gracious and compassionate and righteousness are apart of his character
4. Because he is gracious, compassionate and righteous; it is well with him to be gracious and lend- because he has been given much.
5. He maintains his cause in judgment; he will (not ever) never be shaken.
6. Because of these things: He will be remembered forever!
7. He doesn’t fear evil tidings, Because His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord; He fears the Lord.
8. His heart is upheld (by the Lord), he will not fear(why? Because he trusts in the Lord, and his heart is steadfast)
9. He has given freely to the poor;
10. His righteousness endures forever; His life will be exalted in honor!

To make this even more simple: here are the threads that need to be weaved into our hearts:
*Fear the Lord
*Obedience
*Graciousness, compassionate, and righteousness
*Lends, gives freely
*Maintains his cause until judgment
*Steadfast, trusting in the Lord
*Doesn’t fear evil tidings
*Gives freely to the Poor

“He scattered abroad, he gave to the poor His righteousness abides forever.”
2 Corinthians 9:9

Ladies as you ponder this passage in 2 Corinthians 9:9 and Ps 112: 1-9; I pray that you would truly be challenged as I am to make some changes in how you live out your life. Today, I will be thinking on : 2 Corinthians 9:9 “ He scattered abroad, he gave to the poor His righteousness abides forever.” And I’ll be writing these 8 things that should accompany such a one mentioned in 2 Corinthians 9:9.

May you be changed from within and be transformed into the woman you were meant to be!

God be with you this Holiday season!

Blessings and Love to you all!
Melissa

Lord, I thank you for this opportunity to serve in a small way. I thank you for your word and how it has the power to change us and transform our lives. Lord, I pray that I would not be just a hearer but a doer. Help us all Lord to apply daily what you teach us! Now Lord go before all the women who love you and make their steps firm, show them the way, you would have them go! Bless them and keep them this day!
It is in Your name I pray! The name of Jesus!
Amen!
