2 Corinthians 9:6
“Now this I say, he who sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly; and he who sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully.”
Lord, as we begin reading Your word and studying it may You use it bring light into our life and cause us to be forever changed. Today, Lord may we learn more what it means to sow and how it is that You desire for us to sow in the lives of others and even in our own life. It is in Your Name we Pray, The Name of Jesus, Amen
I had always just heard messages preached and all I have ever heard is this being referenced to sowing the Word of God. Sharing our faith and taking the gospel to those who need to hear it. However, during my study this week, I’ve come to realize that while that is included in the text from 2 Corinthians 9:6 it is not solely about sharing our faith or sowing the Word of God. It is what we sow in our daily life and this causes me to have to stop and take an evaluation of what it is that I am sowing, in my life and in the lives of others.
There are many scriptures that speak about what you sow in your own life but also in the lives of others. I challenge you to take some time and do a word study on Sow and ask the Lord to speak to you what things need to be changed in your life so that you can produce the fruit that will last an eternity.
Let’s just look at other scriptures that are cross referenced to 2 Corinthians 9:6
I was impressed to look at the “Sow Sparingly and Sow Bountifully”
So often I think we try to sow but do we really “sow bountifully” or do we just “sow sparingly”
Proverbs 11:24 “There is one who scatters, yet increases all the more, And there is one who withholds what is justly due, but it results only in want.”
Proverbs 22:9 “He who is generous will be blessed, For he gives some of his food to the poor.”
The key verse that struck me hard was : Gal. 6: 7-9 “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh shall from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit shall from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary. So then while we have the opportunity, let us do good to all men and especially to those who are in the household of faith.”
How often do we give our best to those who are lost? How often do we give our best to total strangers and treat our families, our friends, and fellow believers with contempt, frustration, little patience, and we with one face smile to someone we don’t know and in an instance we turn with a scowl and talk to those we know and love ( often times believers). I was absolutely convicted by this verse today and I desire for this word to take root in my life and cause me to want to change and be changed~
Lord, I confess that I have sown a lot in the flesh. I confess that I have gotten things mixed up and while I know that being kind and loving to strangers is important how much more important is it for me to extend that same love and kindness to those who are my brothers and sisters. Lord, help me this week to be mindful of this and to be slow to respond so that I may truly be changed by Your Word. I pray for the ladies this week that they would sow to the spirit and that they truly would receive the blessing that you have promised would come in due time. Let them not grow weary and give them Your character so that they would truly shine in the darkness around them. Lord show them the way they should be walking and lead them this week.
I pray this in Your name Lord Jesus,
Amen………………
