2 Corinthians 3
The topic that starts this chapter off in my bible says this: “Changed Lives Prove Ministry”
Today, there was one thing in this chapter that the Lord used to yet again remind me that I /you won’t be able to make the changes, in our lives or ministry, we need to make in our own strength. I’ve tried on many occasions to do this actually; if I were honest I would have to say, I usually always start out in my own strength and it is usually the falls that get my attention and I realize that I can do nothing without Christ.
1. My sufficiency has to come from Christ!
2 Corinthians 3: 4-6
“We have such trust through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but the sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but the Spirit ; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”
It is vital that we as Christians realize that we have been brought into the Kingdom of Heaven (which is here and now) to be ministers of the Gospel. It is not something that we have to be taught but rather that should be an out pouring of the changes that have been made in us because of Christ. Paul is talking about this, that we can not be ministers of the Gospel if we think we are ourselves sufficient. I have failed at this so often! I think I’m not sufficient to be in this role or that position or to share with someone! HOW WRONG IS THAT~! In some ways I’m correct if I think I’m going to do the ministering in my own strength! But if our heart is to truly be a minister of the gospel then we have to recognize it isn’t because we are sufficient but because of Christ in us that makes us sufficient.
This week I hope you saw this! If not, take a moment and just recognize you are in and of yourself insufficient but IN CHRIST you are sufficient. Yielding yourself and laying down your will to His. This makes you and I sufficient.
Lord, help me hold to this truth! May I not doubt my sufficiency in YOU! May I grow to become more bold in my ministry because of this sufficiency in YOU! Amen!
2 Corinthians 3:18
“Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
