1 Corinthians 11

1 Corinthians 11 – Monday

Ladies – Sorry this comes to you on Tuesday rather than Monday. We just moved to a new home and we still do not have a phone line. I can’t believe how the Lord brought everything together so that this move could happen while my husband was home to help. Truly, I have experienced Father’s love and care this past week.
I just wanted to let you know that these next few weeks I might post 2 or more days at a time just because we still do not have a phone line. I’m hopeful that it will be installed soon!

Chapter 11

Lord as I begin this week I pray for all the women who read this that You would strengthen them, teach them, and change them from with in! Lord, we desire to be Your servants and to walk according to Your ways not our own. So, Lord Teach us what it is that You desire us to learn through the reading of Your word! – I pray for us all to walk in obedience to You and that we would be Living lives that Produce Everlasting Fruit. In Christ Name : Amen!

“Be imitators of me just as I also am of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 11:1

Really there are 3 topics that Paul writes about in this chapter. All three are pretty big issues but today I just want to share 3 verses that spoke to me and really challenged me.

“Be imitators of me just as I also am of Christ”. – Don’t you find this verse just amazing? I read it and think wow! Paul truly had to live his life as an open book so that everyone who knew him could see his walk with the Lord. His struggles were openly discusses as we read other books he pinned. He shares openly what he learned while he walked with Christ and then he teaches clearly from the Holy Spirits instructions. What an example for me to follow. However, the problem I have is my pride says, I’m not perfect enough to say “ be imitators of me” nor do I want to “really” be so bold to say this to anyone. I even hesitate saying this to my children. I mean, do I really want them to imitate me!
The truth of the matter is this! We naturally imitate those we spend time with, those we are in constant contact with and those who have influence in our lives. What I really believe Paul was saying was, I walk with Christ therefore I have learned to imitate him, He understood this aspect of the human nature. How many of us have kids that we spend every hour with, isn’t it fun when we hear them speak words we speak? I remember the first time it dawned on me I had to watch what I say. Justin our middle son, was watching Ninja Turtles the movie and there was one curse word in the movie. He was playing later outside and he said the word. I was shocked. I was like where did you hear that? He said, Ninja power! I realized from that day forward, this child is going to be an imitator! My other two children aren’t as willing to imitate.

This week: I challenge us to be imitators of Christ. Is there anything in our daily walk that we wouldn’t want our children to imitate? How about those friends we spend a lot of time with do we imitate them or are they imitating us?

Who is the Head of you?
“But I want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman, and God is the head of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 11:3

this verse is causing me to really ponder it more. Here is what it causes me to think about: Do I allow Christ to be the head of who I am, what I think about , what I decide to do, how I react?
Do I allow my husband to be the head over me? To chose what is best for me, our family, our life. Do I submit to him so that he can lead us? ( this doesn’t mean I don’t have a say or share my thoughts it just means I trust him to make the right decisions for us based on the Lord’s leading in and through his life, or all our good)
This week: I challenge us all to be mindful of our relationship with our husbands and if you are single with your earthly authority (father) and Christ. Do we set the example for our kids to question authority or submit. Do we turn the head or do we allow the head to turn and lead us. What are some ways this week we can apply this word to our lives? What are some things you can do to begin to walk under the authority of your spouse or Christ better?

3 . Taking the Lord’s supper in the right manner.
“Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. But a man must examine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly. For this reason many among you are weak and sick, and a number sleep. But if we judge ourselves rightly we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world.” 1 Corinthians 11:27-32

Each week in our church we take the Lord’s supper. It has been a real life changing experience for me. I had once thought of it as a Once a year event in which to examine my life and to remember what Christ did for me. Now I take the Lord’s supper weekly, each Sunday remembering and examining my life to realize that I need to be changing daily not just yearly. And that I need to be growing and producing Life in Christ!

This week: I hope we all would be challenged to evaluate how we take the lord’s supper, let the Word of God be our plum line that sets the standard of our life!

Lord, thank you for these areas we can look at and work on in our lives. I pray for all the women who read this that they would be challenged to be transformed into Your image. To be imitators of You, To be challenged to Remember you in Death and Life!

Word of God Speak! It is in the Lord’s Name I pray, Amen
