Judges 9:7-21

Judges 8: 7-21
• Jotham (Gideon’s son)got wind of what Abimelech was doing and he went and stood on the top of Mount Gerizim to say something to the people of Shechem.
This young man uses an illustration to say what he wanted to say to the people of Shechem. I found it interesting that of all the qualities of a man he chose : Integrity and Truth to be the ones that would make or break the people of Shechem and Abimelech.

Truth and Integrity/ Revenge or Reconciliation?

As we all have some position in life I think it is note worthy that we stop and just ask ourselves a question.

• Do we deal with people with truth and integrity?
• Or when there is a conflict do you go only to those who will support your thinking?
• How should we as believers handle ourselves in the work place, in our role in the ministry?
I really think Gideon set a wonderful example of how we ought to be humble and not puffed up to think more highly of ourselves then we ought too. How we ought to seek the face of God for decisions that we need to make. We shouldn’t presume just because we are of the “family” blood line/ skilled and knowledgeable that we are the one for the job.

Yesterday we saw how a child of Gideon went to the family that would support him in his desire to be King and he went to great lengths to fulfill that desire, even killing.
Today, we see another son who hid himself as his brothers and cousins were being killed. The lone heir of Gideon and he chose to go and speak to the people and tell them of their folly. HE didn’t seek revenge or to punish the one who hurt him and his family, who betrayed his father’s wish and as a result I’m pretty sure shamed his father’s name. No, he left the revenge if you will to the hands of God.

Today, My prayer is that as you begin your day that if you are in the midst of a conflict or a hard decision that you will not only seek counsel from those you know to be honest and god fearing but that you will truly seek the face of God, your heavenly father, Jesus Christ! He will direct your path and guide your steps going and coming. If someone has wronged you, let the desire of revenge remain in the hands of God. Instead, Love and seek reconciliation!

Lord, I pray for all my dear friends and sisters that you would work mightily in their lives. Guide them as they seek to walk according to your ways and your will. Give them discernment to know it is you who speaks and Lord, give them wisdom to be slow to speak when counsel is being sought from them. I also pray that as they go about their day today that they would life a life full of Integrity and Humility. Lord, I thank you for teaching us how to live godly and god fearing through the reading of Your Word and how You have designed it to point us back to Christ!
We love you and desire to walk according to all your ways!
It is in Your name I pray
The Name of Jesus
Amen
