1 John 3:18

1 John 3: 18-24

“Little Children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.
We shall know by this that we are of the truth, and shall assure our heart before Him, in whatever our heart condemns us; for God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God and whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandment and do the things that are pleasing in His sight. And this is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us.
And the one who keeps His commandments abides in Him and He in him, And we know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.”

Today in finishing out 1 John 3 again, the key things that the Lord keeps speaking to me about is repeated as the key to being in a right relationship with HIM.

I think the hardest thing about living out a Christ Centered Life truly is not just speaking about it but doing it! There are a lot of things that I’ve spoken and even said like : I want to do this and I have not yet done it. I am not speaking in such a way that I am living what I speak. Granted I’m really speaking out a dream of what I wish I could do.

How does this translate into 1 John 3 and Johns message to us?

Well, as believers and followers of Christ we are given a commandment.
“And this is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us. And the one who keeps His commandments abides in Him and He in him,”

there are things in your life and mine that we have spoken about , said, and done that doesn’t match who we are in Christ. Our spoken word isn’t enough to give us confidence before GOD! It requires action.

Am I one who says and never does!
In the case of my faith! Oh I pray that my spoken word matches what I live out day to day. But it does cause me to reflect on my life and the life I live out in public and private. AM I obeying the commandment my Heavenly Father has given me just in word only? Or am I living it out in Action!

Believing in the Name of His Son Jesus Christ is easy for most of us but does that belief translate into : Loving one another?

Lord, I confess I'm not always living in such a way that is a true reflection of who you are in My life. My temper gets the best of me, My words become words of boastfulness, words that speak of what could be rather than what is, I don't always love everyone rather I tolerate them. I think myself better than some, I don't always serve but desire to be served. Oh Lord, help me to grow to be more like You! I do desire to be changed and challenged to be a true reflection of You! I pray that you would work in all our lives to cause us to see ourselves for what we truly are and that we would desire to not remain the same. May our Faith not be in word only but in deed, may we live out the Commandment you gave that we should love you Lord and that we should love one another. Help us to grow to better understand what that means and may we live that out!

It is In Your Name I pray,
The Name of Jesus;
Amen
