1 John


John writes to start this book, 1 John, out with this statement before hitting the main topics.
John writes, “And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.” 1 John 1:4

“….that your joy may be full.” Have you ever been with some one and they have something very important to tell you and before they share it with you they say, “oh by the way, and I’m telling you these things so that your joy may be full.” I haven’t but let me just say that if someone said this, my interest would be peaked and I’d be all ears. I would also be thinking, what news could someone bring that would cause my joy to be full?

In this text or even if someone were to say this to me it truly would cause me to perk up and listen!

So my sisters, Let us become alert! Paying attention to what news John has to bring us out of 1 John chapter 1 and let us go to the Lord and open our hearts and mind to what He has for us!

Lord, as we begin this study in 1 John I pray that you would teach us new things and that we would have the desire to not only be hearers of your word but doers. That we would desire to be changed by what we read. That we would earnestly seek to be transformed , renewed, made new and producing your fruit !

We ask these things in Your Son’s name, The Name of Jesus!
