2 Corinthians 9
I needed to take some time in this chapter. In all honesty Ladies, I feel a chapter a day is just too fast, for me anyway. I pray that you all have been challenged as I have as we have been reading through 2 Corinthians but I think I'm going to have to slow it down a bit for now.
This past week, the Lord reminded me, yet again, that I /we need to not just be hearers of the Word but also Doers. I realized that in my attempt to study the word and try to read a chapter a day I was doing more Hearing than Doing! So, I’m going to slow it down a lot and do just one Chapter a week. This way we all have a better chance to better Hear what is the Lord wants to teach us and then we can also Do as the Lord leads us!
So with that, I will share what the Lord is teaching me in 2 Corinthians 9:1-4
“ FOR it is superfluous for me to write to you about this ministry to the saints; for I know your readiness, of which I boast about you to the Macedonians, namely, that Achaia has been prepared since last year, and your zeal has stirred up most of them. But I have sent the brethren, that our boasting about you may not be made empty in this case, that as I was saying, you may be prepared; lest if any Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we (not to speak of you) should be put to shame by this confidence.”
As I read this the point Paul starts with is about the “ministry of the saints”. Sometimes I think we all get caught up in doing for the lost and sharing our faith but even more so should we be ministering to the saints, those our brothers and sisters in Christ.
In the verses below Paul talks about this very thing: ministry of the saints, support of the saints……
2 Corinthians 8:4 also says “ begging us with much entreaty for the favor of participation in the support of the saints,”
This passage is really good because it is what Paul starts off with in both chapters and it is important that we realized who Paul is talking about so that the rest of chapter 9, is fully understood. I have to confess that I’ve heard “Portions of this chapter” preached on and after really studying it, I have realized that they have been miss used or taken the text out of context.
Today, Let us take some time to just pray for those Brother and Sisters around us whom we know who are co-laborers and pray that the Lord will give us His eyes, His heart and, His Mind to see how we can minister to the saints today.
Today- I hope you will look for a way to minister / support those believers you know.
Lord, I pray for my sisters in Christ, who love you and desire to be changed by You! I pray that today they would become aware of the needs of those brothers and sisters around them and that Lord You would give them insight into how they might serve, minister and, support those around them and those who are far from them. Lord, I pray that they would walk in Obedience to you TODAY, as You speak into their lives and that they would be forever changed!
It is in Christ Name I pray, AMEN!
