1 Corinthians 7: 17-24 - Tuesday
This is where I stayed most of the morning in my study time. I find it very encouraging that Paul shares again how we must learn to abide in Christ in all circumstances. This Chapter is full of alot of issues and yet again he makes certain that we don't get bogged down in our circumstances.
We must at all times keep our eyes on Christ and remember:
" But as God has distributed to each one, as the Lord has called each one, so let him walk. and so I ordain in all the churches." verse 17.
Abiding in God's Call isn't easy for the single women who are out serving the Lord by themselves. They struggle emotionally, physically and in some ways socially. Their task is not without struggles. Yet, even in the midst of struggles, their is hope because they have not entered in their singleness alone, God is with them.
The one thing that I keep thinking about this morning is the truth in Pauls statement in verses 32 and 33. " But I want you to be without care. He who is unmarried cares for the things that belong to the Lord - how he may please the Lord. But he who is married cares about the things of the world - how he may please his wife."
This is really true, even though I know we who are married still strive to care for the things that belong to the Lord, we are divided. This is difficult - even now I long for the day when I can serve with everything I have to the Lord. Yet even when our children are raised and on their own we will still be divided because we will care for our husbands.
Lord I pray for the women who are serving You both single and married. Lord you know best their struggles and the fears they face in their lives. I pray Lord you would meet them today where they are and minister to them. I pray for the single women that you would help them to see that you have called them out to be single and help them Lord to see what a blessing that is to not be divided in their service to You. I pray these women would guard their hearts and not allow their desires to overcome their call to serve. I pray lord for those who desire to marry. I pray you would give them direction and help them to chose godly men.
I pray for the wives who are serving their husband, children, and You Lord! I pray Lord you would direct them to know what things they ought to be doing to best serve You. Lord I pray you encourage them as some feel overwhelmed and truly divided. I pray for the marriages and families that Lord you would use them to glorify Yourself!
Today Lord help us all to know what things we need to do that will bring honor to you and what things are keeping us from doing your work!
We love you and trust you Lord! We know you have called eachone of us out and placed us in this role as You saw fit. Help us Lord to remember this today : " You were bought with a price; do not become slaves of men. Brethren, let each one rmain with God in that calling in which he was called." 1 Corinthians 7:23-24
It is in the Name of Jesus I pray!
amen.
